Classifieds

Classifieds posting guidelines for PIV Homeowners Association (HOA) focus on maintaining community safety, privacy, and relevance. Regulations include mandatory moderation by the board, posts are limited to residents only, and content is restricted to appropriate, non-commercial, or neighborly services.

Content and Eligibility Rules

  • Resident Only Access: Classifieds are restricted to current residents to ensure safety and familiarity.
  • Approval/Moderation Required: Ads require review and approval by the PIV HOA Board before appearing on the site to reduce spam or inappropriate content.
  • Appropriate Content: Listings should be relevant to the community, such as selling household items, renting out parking spaces, or offering services like babysitting or dog walking.
  • No Commercial Businesses: Guidelines prohibit external businesses from advertising, keeping the focus on neighbor-to-neighbor transactions.
  • Safety Restrictions: Posting personal information (phone numbers, emails) in public-facing areas is forbidden to prevent scams.

Platform Usage Guidelines

  • Prohibited Content: Posts must not be offensive, defamatory, profane, or violent.
  • No Personal Attacks: Using the classifieds to attack neighbors or air grievances against the board is strictly prohibited.
  • Time Limits: Classifieds may have expiration dates (e.g., 30 days) to ensure listings remain current.

Legal and Safety Protections

  • Disclaimer of Liability: The PIV HOA is not responsible for the items sold or services rendered by residents.
  • Confidentiality: No sensitive or confidential association business should be posted.

These guidelines are designed to turn the community website into a safe, useful tool for, as an example, recycling items and fostering, rather than an unmonitored bulletin board.
